Highlanders at Vermont History Day

by AJ Brooks

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, Harwood 8th graders Antonia Mazzilli, Madi Maylin, AJ Brooks, Lydia Fowler, Marty Brown, Eli Sanford, Nicky Service, Felix Kretz, Milo Lavit, Leo Costanza, Sophie Pelletier, Haley MacDonald, and Eliza Krotinger competed in the Vermont leg of the National History Day (NHD) competition. Lavit and Costanza won a special Military History prize, with The Manhattan Project, Service won second in the Junior Individual Website category, with The Cuban Missile Crisis, and Krotinger and MacDonald won first in the Junior Group Website category, with The Seneca Falls Convention! This year’s NHD theme is Debate and Diplomacy, so all projects have something to do with debate and/or diplomacy. 1st and 2nd place winners get to go to National History Day (held online this year) in June.
