Winter Story

by Kane Rounds

Once upon a time there was a little boy and a little dog. One day Henry, the dog, was in the backyard looking for his chew toy. Next he remembered he saw it in the car where the little boy had it. But the car was at the soccer field where the little boy was playing with his friends.

Henry remembered the trapped door that the little boy made for secret escapes that was in the shed. He can use it to get out of the fence to go get his chew toy in the car. When the trapped door opened to the snowy forest Henry ran up the hill “ruff ruff ruff ruff.”

Thor, a robin bird, heard all the noise and thought let me see where all that is coming from. And then he flew over pass some tree and looked down at Henry running up the hill. Thor wanted to know what Henry was up to so he decided to spy on him.

There was a frozen stream in Henry’s way. Henry could not go around it, he could not go through it, he had to dig under it. All of a sudden Mr. Grey, a squirrel, looked over and saw Henry digging. Mr. Grey did not like dogs so he decided to make a plan to get rid of him. He was going to ask him to go on a adventure with him to wake up a bear.

Mr. Grey jumped out of the trees and asked Henry “Hey do you want to go on a adventure with me. It will be a lot of fun!” Henry said “ I will go on the adventure with you.” So they turned and walk to the big tree and saw some sticks that they picked up. They picked up the sticks to protect them on their adventure. Then they picked up some rocks.

Henry then asked “What are we doing on this adventure?” Mr. Grey said “We are going to wake up a bear!” Henry looked over scared at Mr. Grey and asked “Are you sure this is safe?” Mr. Grey smiled and said “It is perfectly safe. Now one of us will have to go inside the bear cave and pull down the lever to open up the bear cave door.” Only Mr. Grey was small enough to fit though the bars and to go inside the cave.

When Henry and Mr. Grey got to the cave, Mr. Grey scrunched down and tipped toed into the cave. Then Mr. Grey wrapped his two paws around the lever and pulled down. The cave door starts to open and Mr. Grey starts to see Henry yell, “That was amazing!”

Now Henry walked into the cave and then Henry threw a stick at the bear. The bear did not wake up. Then Mr. Grey told Henry to throw a bigger stick at the bear. So Henry picked up a log and threw it at the bear. The bear did not wake up. Then Mr. Grey told Henry to get a bolder to throw at the bear. Henry found a boulder and rolled it into the cave. He tried to pick it up, but Mr. Grey had to come help. The two of them together lifted up the boulder and threw it on the bear.

The bear got up really slow and stood up on his four legs and yelled “Why did you wake me up?” Henry said in a very small voice “Mr. Grey told me to wake you up.” “What?” said the bear, “You woke me up for fun?” The bear was very angry. He started to run after Henry and Mr. Grey.

Mr. Grey and Henry ran fast out of the cave. Then the bear ran out of the cave. Thor, the robin, saw the three running. He picked up some dirt and threw it into the bears eyes.

The bear yelled and started to rub his eyes. He could not see where he was going and ran into a tree. Then he knocked into another tree that fell on top of him.

Henry and Mr. Grey kept running fast up to the soccer field. Then Henry remembered his chew toy in the car and ran over to find it. The car door was open and then Henry jumped in and started chewing his toy.

Next, the little boy finished playing with his friend and went back to the car. He saw Henry there and said “ How did you get here my little doggie ruffie?” The boy and Henry went home and lived happily ever after.
